Dress up as Puppa (Lloyds Grandpa)
Turn Wheelchair into blue TNM Kenworth
NAILED IT
Lloydy absolutely nailed it in his truck whilst wearing high vis and his TNM Beanie
Having a child in a wheelchair often limits the activities they can participate in or to the extent of which they can participate. Inclusion tends to be the pin point to many conversations around people with disability but sometimes there are not universal designs that are truely, "Universal".
In the United States and other countries, you can purchase a limited range of Wheelchair friendly halloween and book costumes. In Australia it is harder to come by these 'off the shelf' options.
Therefore, two weeks before Book week, I, Lloyd's mum set off with a plan to create Lloyd's Puppa's (Grandpa) truck replica!
Lloyd has sat in Puppa's truck and loved every minute. Puppa happens to drive a blue Kenworth Tipper Truck that carried heavy, hot gravel for roadworks.
Throughout the two weeks I scavenged some cardboard, paint, tape and glue from my work and began creating this beautiful beast!
Let me tell you, the next time you see a painted with a mask on, you better believe that they really do need it!
I have never had had so much blue paint in my nasal cavity (haha). This was mostly resolved by painting day number 3 when i decided to wear a mask whilst spray painting the cardboard!
My garage is now a slight shade of blue (Sorry landlord!).
After the two weeks of building this truck, I was very proud to roll Lloyd into his Kinder's Book Week! Lloyd was also very excited and loved the idea of being all cooped up in his little blue truck.
